Cluster & Eno is a collaborative album by the German electronic music group Cluster and English ambient musician Brian Eno. The style of this album is a collection of gentle melodies: a mixture of Enos ambient sensibilities and Cluster's avant-garde style. In Brian Eno's first collaboration with Cluster, the best of this album's instrumental pieces are too emotionally rich to waste as mere background music, evoking feelings of hesitancy and regret that rescue the music from mere vapid prettiness. Three tracks in particular indicate things to come. Wehrmut is an ethereal synth piece with the pace slowed to a tantalizing crawl. I've had this CD since the 90s and recently acquired a German first pressing on vinyl, and oh boy what a difference. The vinyl is absolutely stunning. Released August 1977. Cluster & Eno Tracklist. Cluster and Eno is but one of three collaborative efforts previously available on CD but now reissued with a bigger, louder and cleaner sound. The length is only 36 minutes or so but the interaction produces some haunting melodies and interesting interplays some of which are reminiscent of the work of Ligeti. David Crosby once sang that you know the darkest hour was just before the dawn and to me this album represents a dawning of a new age of music. But then I am biassed. I love this album almost as much as other Cluster albums on their own
