Album

Somersault is the third studio album by British electronic music artist Chicane, released on 23 July 2007. It is Chicane's first album to be self-released on his record label, Modena Records. Stoned in Love, the first officially released song from Somersault, was first heard as a single in April 2006, at which time little was known about the then-untitled album. Several other songs that were to appear on the album were first played live by Chicane in concerts during the same month one of these. Somersault - CHICANE. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. Stoned in Love' , the first single to be taken from forthcoming album 'Somersault', is not so much a departure but in many ways an evolution of the classic Chicane sound. Somersault' is Chicane's third studio album. That is what drove me with the new wanted to create something that was different. Not only to what else is around at the moment - but also to my previous albums, which were more conceptual with a beggining, middle and end. This one is more a collection of vocal songs, lots of strong melodies. Not too much down beat stuff, It's all pretty much up. Stoned in Love is the transitional single from the album. It's close enough to what i've always done for the association with Chicane but moving more towards th. Album 2007 10 Songs. More By Chicane. The Sum of Its Parts. Behind the Sun. If you're reading this, you probably already know that there are two versions of this album. One is sublime, and one sounds like sounds like a 12 year old has been "improving" it with some joke software in his bedroom.

Wikipedia has a great page describing the trials and tribulations of Somersault, being stuck between Chicane's departure from Universal Records (after the release of the single Stoned in Love) and his move to Modena, leaving a pregnant gap that led to the album being "pirated by Russian criminals to such an extent that it was felt that it was not worth releasing it officially"

One can only assume that the sublime version was the Universal version, of which Wikipedia claims only 50 copies were made and that was pirated by Russian criminals, because it was on a Russian mp3 site that I first experienced it (sorry!).

I have at least 3 legitimate physical CD copies of the subsequent version of the Album, none of which I ever play. It is a truly excruciating experience. I often wonder what I would think of the album had I not experienced the sublime demo copy, but once you've experienced the good version, you won't be able to sit through the bad.

I have this copy (MODENACD1 - UK) and unfortunately its the crap version, as you may have guessed by the other reviews here!!

TRASH! This is not Chicane. Not sure what's going on here. If this is the man that put out the stunningly beautiful 'Far from maddening crowds' and ' Behind the sun' then for this one he must have either been with a woman that made him make some trash similar to what she listened to or had somehow taken a drug that messed his brain up. This album should have been called 'In with the brain-dead crowds'! It's down there with the low-life dance music of the modern era, that has no meaning and no substance. I'm 100% certain that if he actually released 'Easy to assemble' then this album would have never come about. Apparently he told us that he used the best parts from that album and put them on this one, doubt it, that was for publicity. What he thought his fans wanted to hear and what his fans actually wanted to hear are two totally different things here. This is just as commercial as an Adele album, it's about as far away from his early work as possible. There are a couple of chilled ones on here that don't really do much but are surely the best ones on it, but they would suit being on an early album, they don't mix well into this stuff. Jesus, even the artwork is creepy and un-imaginative. Luckily he woke up from this nightmare and stared to make good tunes again as proved on his later albums. Do not waste your money or time on this album, skip to the next 'Giants' is a much better album.

This has nothing to do with the previous albums, this is release is no way so good as the previous Albums, this is that kind of music you listen in the cinema room while waiting the movie begins.

I had this disc once. The cover looked nice, but the content was rubbish. After his first 2 releases I thought this was going to be a kind of stunner, but it only appeared as a blooper. There was only a few songs I liked during a listen. Those were the songs "Nothing", "Far Away From You" and "Time Of Your Life" - which even was misspelled on the back of the album inlay that I owned.

I guess the good old times of "Far From The Maddening Crowds" and "Behind The Sun" are over. I always enjoyed both of them as the REAL summer albums. Kind-of island feeling in the sun. This wasn't even the sound I'd like to listen to when having a barbecue with friends. I'd feel too ashamed.

I guess the more music Nick does, the lazier, more uncreative and boring he gets. With his new releases I get headaches just because I heared the sound and rhythm samples - he uses - somewhere else before, so I got rid of them.

I will go on enjoying the old stuff. I want to feel like the person far away from the crowds, not the meatball turned on the grill.

Nevertheless, thank you Nick for enhancing the high times and prime times of music in the late 90s!
