Songs in album Cal Tjader - La Onda Va Bien 1979. Cal Tjader - Speak Low. Cal Tjader - Serengeti. Cal Tjader - Star Eyes. Cal Tjader - Mambo Mindoro. Cal Tjader - Aleluia. Cal Tjader - I Remember You. Cal Tjader - Linda Chicana. Cal Tjader - Sabor. It was only fitting that vibraphonist Cal Tjader launched the Concord Picante label with this release for Tjader did a great deal to popularize Latin-jazz. This was not his strongest effort the solos of Tjader and flutist Roger Glenn are not all that substantial but the drumming of Vince Lateano and the percussion of Poncho Sanchez keep the momentum flowing on these likable performances. Unlike other American jazz musicians who experimented with the music from Cuba, the Caribbean, and Latin America, he never abandoned it, performing it until his death. Tjader pronounced chay-der primarily played the vibraphone. He was also accomplished on the drums, bongos, congas, timpani, and the piano. Cal Tjader. 2014 Original Album Plus Bonus Tracks 1954. The album opens rather low key with Speak Low, but Tjader hadn't forgotten how to kick it up a few notches: Mambo Mindoro which closed side one and Edu Lobo's tune Aleluia which opened side two have that familiar energy of years past. Great album I already own this title on vinyl two copies and CD, but wanted to get this in high-resolution digital format
