The third album released by controversial Black Metal icon Burzum aka Varg Vikernes government name: Louis Cachet was recorded at Grieg Hall in September 1992. As with the the other of his first four albums, which were also recorded at Grieg Hall, there was a delay between recording and release Hvis Lyset Tar Oss English: If The Light Takes Us was released two years later, in April 1994. Its a concept album about what once was, before the light took us and we rode into the castle of the dream. Into emptiness. Its something like: beware the Christian light, it will take you away into degeneracy and nothingness. Why then, is this album, Hvis Lyset Tar Oss, considered THE black metal album This is a little different. This is by far the most evil sounding album Ive heard. Unfortunately, the one flaw I find with this album lies in the title track, Hvis Lyset Tar Oss. While it isnt a bad song, its only okay at best and drags the album down a little in the middle, ruining the mood slightly. At the end, Varg decided to give his listeners some mercy the albums very last song, Tomhet is a slow-paced, simplistic, atmospheric song that slowly heals you back to your former self before you were relentlessly beaten by the album.
