There are only two original Guy compositions on Slippin' In, but since he has always been better as an interpreter than a writer, this is a non-complaint. Playing a superb foil to the leader is none other than Johnnie Johnson, whose solo on 7-11 simply takes over the track. The difference in sound quality between this album and Feels Like Rain is astounding. The album is a standards blues rock album that puts lots of emphasis on Buddy Guy's strongest musical features. Fans of his previous and later work will enjoy this. Slippin' In features the typical blues shuffles, slow blues numbers and some stellar guitar work. Pretty much what you'd expect from a later day Buddy Guy album.
