The Buckaroos were an American band led by Buck Owens in the 1960s and early 1970s, who, along with The Strangers, were involved in the development and presentation of the Bakersfield sound. Their peak of success was from 1965 to 1970. In 2005, CMT named the Buckaroos No. 2 on its list of the 20 Greatest Country Music Bands. Don Rich, Doyle Holly, Tom Brumley and Willie Cantu were the original members of the Buckaroos during the 1960s. The 1970s version included Don Rich, Jerry Wiggins, Jerry. This album was Buck Owens' tribute to bluegrass music. I first heard the two singles from the album, Ruby and Rollin' in My Sweet Baby's Arms, on my Daddy's 8-track of The Best of Buck Owens Volume Four. Those two songs are great and the rest of the album is good, too. These are all cover songs, with the exception of Corn Liquor, a new song written by Buck's son Buddy Alan. Uncle Pen is a classic piece by Bill Monroe, and the violinist fiddler from the Buckaroos does an ace job of rendering it in first class style. The song Ruby is an obvious rip-off from Reuben's Train. There are others that are just as recognizable, but this in no way detracts from the album. Ruby is a music album by Buck Owens & His Buckaroos released in 1971. Ruby is ranked 84,535th in the overall chart, 7,919th in the 1970s, and 758th in the year 1971.
