Symphony No. 9 in D minor is the last symphony on which Anton Bruckner worked, leaving the last movement incomplete at the time of his death in 1896 Bruckner dedicated it to the beloved God in German, dem lieben Gott. Gerd Schaller has composed his own completion of the Ninth, closely based on Bruckner's notes. Schaller first performed his version of the finale with the Philharmonie Festiva in the abbey church at Ebrach on 24 July 2016, as part of the Ebrach Summer Music Festival. You do not need to be a Bruckner nut to love this 9. None of that happens in the completed 4th movement of Bruckner's 9th, however.
