Folk Rock - Country Rock. Jess Roden's first band was The Raiders followed by The Shakedown Sound which also included the guitarist, Kevyn Gammond, and keyboard player August Eadon. In 1966, he joined The Alan Bown Set as their new lead singer. He remained with the Bown group through to the late 1960s, but left after recording the album The Alan Bown His vocals were re-recorded by his replacement Robert Palmer for the UK release of the album, although Roden's original vocals remained on the U. The second album Ace of Sunlight was OK with Sudden Street the most memorable track, but I still prefer their first album. Nevertheless, it's great to have them both on one cd. By the way Roden's replacement in The Alan Bown was a little-known singer called Robert Palmer. Ah Bronco, first heard them back in 1970 on Island Records great sampler - Bumpers with the track Love. Went out and bought the album at the time still got it but no longer own a turntable deck so seeing their 2 albums, Country Home and Ace of Sunlight on one cd was an obvious purchase and Im not disappointed.
