Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks is the ninth solo studio album by British ambient musician Brian Eno, released in 1983. It was written, produced, and performed by Brian Eno, his brother Roger and Daniel Lanois. Music from the album has appeared in the films 28 Days Later, Traffic, Trainspotting, and The Lovely Bones, whose soundtrack sold approximately four million copies. Two of the songs from the album, Silver Morning and Deep Blue Day, were issued as a 7 single on EG Records. Apollo: Atmospheres And Soundtracks - Brian Eno. Eno wanted to avoid the sensationalism of the television broadcasts and news reports of the Apollo 11 mission in 1969, instead preferring to express how he imagined actually being in space would feel. This turns out to be a much wider range of moods than one might think. Pieces like Matta and Signals are dark, haunting, and strange, with bizarre noises evoking the presence of alien life forms. Originally released in 1983 on EG Records, this Virgin incarnation betters the sound quality of the earlier Caroline CD release of this title and is a vast improvement over the vinyl. One can hear super deep tones in the music reproduced for the first time in a full-throated manner, and the perspective of distance opens into vast vistas of the emptiness of space, rather than into a haze of tracking error as did the long player. Apollo: Atmospheres & Soundtracks was written, produced and performed by Brian Eno together with his brother Roger and Daniel Lanois. The music was originally recorded in 1983 for the landmark feature-length documentary For All Mankind, which was directed by American journalist, film director and screenwriter Al Reinert. Apollo Atmospheres and Soundtracks 1983 is one of Brian Enos more inspired and distinguishable works due to some favorable factors. In this album, Daniel Lanois becomes the disruptive figure, which is usually Brian Enos job as collaborator, with his very raw, vaporous and metallicearthly pedal steel guitar counterpointing alongside Roger Enos piano brushes over the evocative, beautiful, obtuse, emotional and profound sonic environments imprinted by Brian Eno.
