Popular Lyrics Popular Artists. Brakes recorded their second album, The Beatific Visions at House of David Studio in Nashville, co-producing the record with Grammy Award winning producer Stuart Sikes. Whilst recording the album, the band convinced the studio's owner, David Briggs, who had played with Elvis Presley between 19651977, to play piano on their song If I Should Die Tonight. The band were forced to change their name to BrakesBrakesBrakes in the US due to a Philadelphian funk rock band using the name The Brakes. While the album was released under the name BrakesBrakesBrakes in the US, the band will continue to use their original name throughout the rest of the world. Beatific Visions. Brakesbrakesbrakes Brakes Format: Audio CD. Please retry. They returned with 'The Beatific Visions'. 9 minutes of literate country-punk. The Beatific Visions is an incredibly cohesive and listenable album for a collection of songs that are so seemingly dissimilar. Instead of playing like a lazy scan through radio presets it instead plays like your favorite mixes, a little of this and a little of that, but always with quality and always with intensity, quiet or otherwise. The Beatific Visions is a huge step forward for Brakes, which may seem surprising since the first album was so damned good. This is the second album by the band Brakes (BrakesBrakesBrakes being the name they had to use in America because of copywrite). They had alot to live up to after the 1st album Give Blood which is one of my all time fave albums , and they almost pull it off. There are some great tracks here starting with Hold Me In The River and Beatific Visions also the country style of On Your Side and If I Should Die Tonight but why did they inclued the old b-side Porcupine Or Pineapple and the silly Spring Chicken, didn't they have any more tunes?,besides that it's a good album. The hidden track is an acoustic track called The Witchin Hour , Which you don't get on the UK version.I have seen this band live four times now and each time they have been great and alot of fun so check them out if you can.
Spring Chicken and Porcupine Or Pineapple are fantastic fun records, and the highlight of the live performances... They deserve to be on the album.... get a grip dude!
