Stylistically, Destroyer of Worlds is a cross between the Viking metal of Bathory's 1988-1991 period and the retro-thrash metal of Requiem and Octagon, as can be heard in Bleeding, 109, Death from Above, Liberty & Justice, and Kill Kill Kill. As for the tone, this album is a cross between the Viking Metal of the 1988-1991 period and the Thrash Metal of the Requiem and Octagon albums. The fans werent very satisfied with this album due to the singers excessive hoarse voice and the simplicity of the riffs in the Thrash Metal tracks they were expecting an album that reflected the Viking style of Hammerheart and Twilight of the Gods era. However, after this album, Thrash Metal was completely abandoned by Quorthon to give more space to Viking Metal.
