A year later, Azteca gave it another go, straightening out their twisted lines and sanding off their rough edges on Pyramid of the Moon. They're still a horn-accentuated Latin rock band but they now hue closer to Chicago than Santana, a commercial consideration that's not entirely unappealing. There are still elements of bossa nova and polyrhythms but there is also a slickness that's impossible to avoid, and it's superficially attractive. Pyramid Of The Moon. Azteca Format: Vinyl. I love Azteca and am happy to be able to have their records now on CD. Pete Escovedo, the driving force behind Azteca, is a fantastic musician who has always surrounded himself with excellent band members. Their first album ,Azteca was a revelation, but this their second album was just as great,in fact even better ,than the first. I waited years for both to be released on listening to them now is just like when I first heard them back in have changed but funky,Latin based music never dies. Play jigsaw puzzles for free Home. The Pyramid of the Moon is the second largest pyramid in modern-day San Juan Teotihuacán, Mexico, after the Pyramid of the Sun. It is located in the western part of the ancient city of Teotihuacan and mimics the contours of the mountain Cerro Gordo, just north of the site. Cerro Gordo may have been called Tenan, which in Nahuatl, means mother or protective stone. The Pyramid of the Moon covers a structure older than the Pyramid of the Sun which existed prior to 200 AD.
