Lefty is the seventh solo studio album by Art Garfunkel, released in 1988. The album features three songs by singer-songwriter Stephen Bishop. The album's cover photo shows a pre-teen Art Garfunkel holding a baseball bat in the front yard of his childhood home in the Forest Hills section of Queens, New York City. It was taken by his brother Jules. The album title came from the fact that Garfunkel is left-handed, which the picture established. Some Enchanted Evening. Art Garfunkel. Art Garfunkel's first regular studio album in nearly seven years was a pleasant enough exercise that did nothing to arrest his commercial or artistic decline. The idea of covering I Have a Love from West Side Story was a good one, the obligatory '50s cover, So Much in Love, was well performed, and Love Is the Only Chain was a good piece of material, even if better performed by authors Pam Rose and Mary Ann Kennedy who joined Garfunkel on this recording. The album contained the smash-hit Jimmy Webb penned tune All I Know and was produced by long time Simon & Garfunkel engineer and co-producer, Roy Halee. Halee also produced Second Avenue, which became a hit single in 1974. In 1976, Garfunkel recalls, I went to Muscle Shoals, Alabama for my third album, Watermark 1977, an entire album of Jimmy Webb songs with the exception of Sam Cooke's timeless What a Wonderful World, produced by Phil Ramone, with vocals by Art, Paul Simon and James Taylor.
