Andy Stott - Passed Me By. With seven tracks, the 2011 EP Passed Me By from Manchesters Andy Stott plays more like a mini-album. The intro, Signature, starts with the murkiest of beats and a scratchy ambience sounding like an underwater performance. Dubbed death disco in the U. and witch house on the West Coast, Stotts aptly titled New Ground taps into the slowed pulse of dirge-heavy techno. Execution and Passed Me By end things off on a slowed down tip, the former deploying an anaesthetised and padded 44 template sunk deeper into the abyss by deformed, time-stretched vocals, the latter ending off proceedings with a more delicate palette, letting go of all that pent-up emotion with nothing but that rumbling low-end and some strings for company. It was released in 6 November 2012 by Modern Love. Stott's EP Passed Me By 2011 marks the beginning of the part of his discography where he made tracks with a less dub techno-tinged style that defined his previous records, opting instead for a much more bass-heavy sound a la Sunn O and Demdike Stare, slower tempos, and more abstract arrangements. However, the EP still contained elements of techno on tracks like . Genre: Dub Techno. Andy Stott has a knack for interesting, engaging and moody dub techno music. Heavy bass. Ominous vibe. Pulsating rhythms. A lot of it sounds lo-fi, as if you were outside a club. The disorted bass makes you feel claustrophobic with only a little bit of breathing room. Not a bad album, unfortuately a bit too short with little to no progression but still solid. If you're in the mood for a dark, minimal approach to techno, this one is for you. Andy is one of the better electronic artists to be on. read more. Passed Me By. Andy Stott 23-05-2011. Total duration:33 min. Andy Stott. Passed Me By is deep. Andy Stott's most recent offering of minimal dub techno sounds absolutely massive yet almost uncomfortably intimate, the heavy bass of North To South bearing more than a passing resemblance to a subtly skipping heartbeat while the reverberant low end of Execution feels like a cavernous sonic void. There's atmosphere, of course - lots of it, in fact, occupying a distinctly dark headspace that will be familiar to anybody fortunate enough to have undergone a full listen to Tryptych. But Stott exchanges some of Miles Whittaker and. Signature, 00:37. New Ground, 06:21
