Sid Phillips may be recalled by some viewers as the clarinet-playing leader of a popular post-war band which specialised in Dixieland jazz. However he was Simon Sid Phillips 14 June 1907 23 May 1973 was an English jazz clarinetist, bandleader, and arranger. Phillips was born in London, England, into a Jewish family. He learned violin and piano as a child, and played reeds in his teens as a member of his brother's European band. He got into the music business as a publisher and director for the Edison Bell. Phillips' acoustic guitar work dominates the whole album but he and his collaborators use also a banch of classical music related instruments giving the whole effort a symphonic two epics of the album. and the eponymous ''The geese. are entirely instrumental,simply stunning and quite is unfolded around the acoustic.
