Warning: Some of the music on this Compact Disc was originally recorded on analog equipment, prior to modern noise reduction techniques. This Compact Disc preserves, as closely as possible, the sound of the original recording, but its high resolution also reveals the limitations in the master tape, including noise and other distortions.

The Allen Toussaint Collection. Allen Toussaint's contribution to New Orleans R&B is indelible and his presence can be felt throughout classic recordings from the late '50s, '60s, and beyond. His name, though, is the province of connoisseurs, those who peruse album jackets looking for who wrote that great song or wrote out that phenomenal arrangement. Many who know his name may not even know that he was a solo recording artist, partially because his discography is a little confusing, as he cut for little New Orleans record labels, then signed with Reprise, before returning to sporadic waxings for indies. Allen Toussaint ˈtuːsɑːnt January 14, 1938 November 10, 2015 was an American musician, songwriter, arranger and record producer, who was an influential figure in New Orleans rhythm and blues from the 1950s to the end of the century, described as one of popular music's great backroom figures. Many musicians recorded Toussaint's compositions, including Whipped Cream , Java, Mother-in-Law, I Like It Like That, Fortune Teller, Ride Your Pony, Get Out of My Life, Woman, Working in. Allen Toussaint is pure genius, and this collection really reflects his N'Awlins roots stunningly. Read more. Now that Toussaint The Real Thing 1970-1975 was released just a few months ago, that collection of his three solo albums from that period makes this collection almost obsolete. The first 10 songs on this Collection are on that set, but the last six songs on this one come from his Motion album from 1978. Since that album is VERY expensive if you can find it, the only reason to get this Collection is for the last six songs from Motion, with only 4 not being included from Motion
