Alabama's official music video for 'Forty Hour Week For A Livin''. Hello Detroit auto workers, Let me thank you for your time You work a forty hour week for a livin', Just to send it on down the line Hello Pittsburgh steel mill workers, Let me 1985 10 Songs. 40 Hour Week. Country 1985. 40 Hour Week For a Livin' is a song written by Dave Loggins, Don Schlitz and Lisa Silver, and recorded by American country music band Alabama. It was released in April 1985 as the second single and title track from Alabama's album 40-Hour Week. The song, a salute to the America's blue-collar workers, became Alabama's 17th No. 1 song on August 3, spending one week atop the chart. The end of the song includes a few bars from America the Beautiful. Opening with the driving title track, 40 Hour Week encapsulates why Alabama was the top country group of the '80s. Alternating between restrained rockers and well-crafted ballads, it captures the band at its peak. Nevertheless, it isn't quite as strong as their first albums - the performances and production are a bit too mannered - but its professionalism is appealing. And that professionalism made 40 Hour Week the group's most popular album, as it crossed over into the pop Top Ten. Alabama - 40 Hour Week 1985. To favorites 0 Download album. Listen album.
