The music is fast paced and raw enough and of the three albums in AFI's early career, Answer That and Stay Fashionable is the best one. If you haven't heard any of AFI's first releases, you're in for a surprise. Forget about the fantastic horrorcore lyrics you find in their three mid-career albums and forget about the snazzy effects and 80's-esque atmosphere from their latest two. Their first LP from 1996, Answer That and Stay Fashionable, contains none of the dark imagery, opaque lyrics, and radio friendly tunes that made AFI a household name. Instead, what you get here are raw blasts of skate punk fury and humor in the DescendentsOffspring vein. Aside from Davey's instantly recognizable voice, it doesn't even sound like the same band only Davey Havok and drummer Adam Carson were in the band at this stage.
