Dewald Louw born 18 June 1986, in Bloemfontein is the winner of the first season of The Afrikaans KykNET Idols in South Africa. With him in the final were Alzonia Titus and Willem Botha. In 2007 and 2008, Dewald got a lot of radio play with his radio singles Free To Fly and Nog 'n Hart. Dewald was born in Durbanville, grew up in Bloemfontein and was a second year BA Media Studies student at the University of the Free State when the KykNET Idols of 2006 took place. Just one year later he released his first record on a small independent label and many of them followed. The music was called Techno and didnt have anything to do with regular songwriting. But it filled up the wallet and so he could go on just being a musician. That means music and lyrics by JD Wood for the first time. 2002 JD had the great opportunity to create and perform a song with the famous violinist Vanessa Mae.
