It peaked at number 38 on the UK Albums Chart. The album was shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize in 1998. A connected remix album called Two Pages Remixed was released shortly after the original album in Japan only, with an alternatively titled Two Pages Reinterpretations being released the following year in the UK. By 1998's Two Pages, former junglists 4hero had moved beyond the genre's limits. On Loveless, Ursula Rucker intones spoken-word poetry over upright bass and live drums, kicking off an excursion into jazz-dance fusion laced with strings, horns and, on Third Stream, even tabla, while The Action dips into classic boom-bap. It's nearly impossible to listen to 4 Hero's Two Pages without thinking about the incredible success enjoyed by the jungle movement and Roni Size's New Forms LP in particular during the four-year gap which separated Dego and Mark Mac's second album from their third.
